So this the first time i am posting anything pastry and that is mostly because am not the biggest fan of the pastry side of cooking , but this recipe has that it factor and i really need to try it out.

You will need:
2 Cups whole wheat Cake Flour
2 1/2 Tsp Baking Power
1/2 Tsp Salt
2 Tbsp Sugar
1/2 Tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
120g cold unsalted butter or margarine
120g Cheddar cheese, grated
1/4 Cup chopped Chives
1 Cup Buttermilk
1 egg, beaten
What to do:
1. Preheat the oven at 200°C.
2. In a large bowl, combine all the dry ingredients together and rub in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
3. Stir in the cheese and chives.
4. Gradually add the buttermilk and mix to form a soft, sticky dough.
5. Place in a lightly floured work surface and roll into 1 cm think and cut with a cookie cutter.
6. Brush the tops of the Scones with the beaten egg and bake for 12 – 15 minutes. (If you don’t have buttermilk, you can make your own by mixing 1 Cup of milk with 1 Tbsp of lemon juice or white vinegar and let stand for 10 minutes).
